Get to know the first photographer of Iran
The appearance of the photo and camera was reported for the first time at the end of the reign of Mohammad Shah Qajar by European soldiers and advisers who traveled to Tehran.
The photos that were taken from Tehran at the beginning included photos of the life of Qajar people and courtiers, unfortunately, the first photos taken from Iran are kept in museums and cultural centers abroad. With Naseruddin Shah coming to power and his interest in photography, photography was removed from Ferangian’s monopoly.
He learned photography from a French person named “Monsieur Carlian”. He worked on photography, film development and photo printing. Among the famous photos left by Naseruddin Shah is a photo of Mahd Alia (Shah’s mother) and the women of his harem. Apart from photographing women and his friends, he also took pictures of buildings, landscapes, hunting grounds, villas and political prisoners.
Many of the photos taken by Naseruddin Shah of political prisoners are kept in the album of Palace House – Golestan Museum, and the phrase “We made ourselves” can be seen.
After Naser al-Din Shah, the other remaining photos from the Qajar era are photos of Muzaffar al-Din Shah, Muhammad Ali Shah, Ahmad Shah, who are seen in different positions, standing, sitting, riding on a horse carriage, and less photos of natural landscapes. The era has been recorded.
